The Detectives t-shirt was conceived and created by our good friend Morgan Jesse Lappin from Brooklyn NY. He�s a collage-master and has loves to collect images from encyclopedias, VHS covers and other miscellaneous items he finds on the street. With the Detectives tee, we�ve got some James Bond type poses with a tiger and squid face and a backdrop of a beautiful desert.
Originally, Morgan was printing the detective shirt with a 1-color process and no backdrop. You can check it out here. I thought it was pretty damn sweet, but when I saw the original Detectives collage, I was blown away by the incredible use of colors in the background and black & white images in the forefront. I also love the way that the squid head peeks out over the top of the rectangular box breaking the linear symmetry.
I tend not to be an all-over-print t-shirt wearer, but the detectives tee is surprisingly wearable for a small guy like me. It�s been a silent killer in our collection, and I can�t wait to get some more designs crankin� with Morgan. This tee is printed on a white 100% cotton American Apparel tee. We will be coming out with a girl�s version shortly.
